Smart Farming technologies cover a broad range of decision support software and high-performance hardware technologies, that include sensors, cameras, drones and UAVs, image processing, AI, and data-analytics.
CROP PROTECTION & FERTILIZERS
New technology helps farmers conserve fertilizer and protect their crops.
Biological or chemical substances used for protecting the crops from pests and diseases, nontoxic and environmentally friendly.
BIOTECH: Genetics & Breeding
Agricultural science involves the use of scientific tools and techniques, including genetic engineering, molecular markers, molecular diagnostics, vaccines, & tissue culture, to modify living organisms (Breeding).
Aquaculture falls under both Agritech & Foodtech, and covers the management, welfare & value of fish, algae & other water-based organisms. Solutions under development include breeding, feeding, monitoring systems & disease management.
FARMING & ROBOTICS
Building robotics, machinery, and equipment used to automate farm work, harvest crops and to sort it.
Processing livestock manure, fertilizer run-off, harvest, and food waste to reduce harmful substances and reuse the materials.
Solutions that handle cleaning, sorting, processing, packing and storing of produce. The aim of these solutions is to secure, improve or maintain the quality of the produce following harvest.
IRRIGATION & WATER MANAGEMENT
While irrigation technology traditionally involves pipes, valves and hoses, more recent smart systems optimize irrigation by utilizing sensors, data and sophisticated software.
This sub-sector comprises technologies that enhance the management, welfare, and value of livestock and poultry, covering applications from breeding and feeding systems to animal health and cattle monitoring.
Solutions that utilize space, light, soil, and water in non-traditional ways to grow crops in places and conditions that were hitherto impossible, for the purpose of increasing yield, and reducing the consumption of water and energy.
This phase includes awareness workshops and activities on technologies and innovation that are related to agriculture, present the offering of HASSAD, the selection criteria and introduce them to the current Agritech ecosystem, all activities aims to attract the Agritech startups to submit an application to join the program. Other partners, local universities, and related organizations will host awareness workshops and promote HASSAD call for applications.
During this phase we implement a validation process for at least 40 teams that aims to prove the capacity of the applicants, give them time to validate and present their solution in front of a selection committee, the process will include connecting the teams to interact with experts from the industry, conduct on site farm field visits and business focused sessions on business model canvas, product development, MVP and presentation skills.
The program is designed to enable the startups to validate their Solution & Develop a solid business model, the program include group workshops and one to one coaching sessions, each startup will go through Business needs assessment that will determine the intervention road map.
Startups by this stage will have developed a clear growth strategy, final pitch deck with a clear ask, identified potential funding and investment resources, practiced and mastered investment pitching.
